Kenneth James Smith was born July 30, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio. As a child, he moved to Miami, Florida and graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Journalism. He served in the Coast Guard, worked for the Miami-Metro News Bureau and ended his career as Economic Development Director for the City of Coral Gables.
He lived the last years of a wonderful life in Mobile, Alabama where he died on January 16, 2022.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Weed; son, Jay Smith (Christine); daughter, Karen Baer (Gene); and grandchildren Kaitlin and Joshua Baer.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Patricia Holmstrom, Gloria Flynn and first wife Marlyn Smith.
