JD Kuffskie passed away peacefully on September 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Fitzgerald Kuffskie, his parents Luther and Aleye Kuffskie, and his sister Virginia Hempfleng. He lived a very long and happy life. He was especially proud of his service as a Navy Lieutenant JG during World War II. Following his service, JD received a Chemical Engineering degree from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, which would later become known as Auburn University. He was an avid Tigers fan and was known to yell a loud “War Eagle!” In the 1950s, JD founded his company Applied Engineering Sales Company, which later became KEISCO, and ran it for almost 70 years. He was a lifelong Republican and was proud to tell people that he was a member of the Alabama delegation to three Republican National Conventions. He was a long-time member of Skyline Country Club, later Heron Lakes Country Club, and could be found on the golf course many a Saturday, Sunday or late afternoon. One of his proudest moments was the day he hit a hole-in-one.
JD is survived by his son Claude Kuffskie, daughters Martha Kuffskie and Mary Ellen Kuffskie, granddaughters Katie Kuffskie (Daniel Warren) and Maggie Kuffskie, and his great grandson Fitz Warren. He also leaves behind his cherished friend, Gayle Mosley, and her daughters Michelle (Tom) Latimer and Mary (Stephen) Ashley, and their children Davis Latimer, Thomas Latimer, Tine Latimer, Mary Morgan Ashley, and Wesley Ashley.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Ambience at Maitland, especially Andrea Thomas, Keasha Parker and Jeneka Griffin, for all the love and attention they bestowed on JD.
