Harvey served for 3 and a half years with the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge before moving on to a secure career with the United States Postal service, working through the Navco, Springhill, and Cottage Hill branches. He also spent time as a bellhop at the Battle House and as a baker for Malbis Bakery – both located in Downtown Mobile.
He was an active member of First Baptist Tillman’s Corner for fifteen years. He loved singing with the “Amazing Greys”, senior adult choir. He had the privilege of singing several solos in church during this time.
Harvey would want everyone to know he was nothing without the Salvation of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and even then, all glory and praise belong to Jesus.
Harvey enjoyed golf, Alabama football, and spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Wanda G. Bullion; one grandson, Marcus A. Nelson; a son-in-law, Donald A. Nelson; his parents, Needham & Ida Jane Bullion; seven brothers; and one sister.
He’s survived by three children: Robert Harvey “Bob” Bullion (Ikuko), Janet Holt (Ronnie), and Robin E. Nelson; grandchildren, Mardie (Drew) Andrews, Jonathan Holt, Sarah (Jeremy) Richerson and Michelle Nelson; four great-grandchildren: Akina Rudolph (Danny), Darius Andrews, Luke and Anna Richerson; one great-great-grandchild, Miyana Rudolph; and a very dear friend Mrs. Belle Bender.
Visitation for Harvey will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following.
