She was born in Newton, Mississippi and was the daughter of Eleanor Laverge Daniels Banks and William Marcellus Banks. Frances graduated from Newton High School, attended Mississippi State College for Women, and graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi. She was a long time member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church where she served for many years. She was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Methodist Women, Stephens Ministry, and several mystic societies.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-two years, Dr. Charles Jonathan Hollis, her daughter, Eleanor Jane Hollis, and her son, Jeffrey Banks Hollis.
Frances is survived by three of her children, Charles Jonathan Hollis, Jr., Julie Hollis Baker (Brent), and Frances Hollis Melton (Adam). She is also survived by seven granddaughters: Anne Rucker Shields (Thomas), Sara Frances Sears, Katie Rucker Edwards (Matthew), Hannah Rucker Henage (Tyler), Catherine Rebecca Melton, Eleanor Melton Blount (Winton), and Frances Helene Hollis; ten great grandchildren: Anna Frances Sears, Madelyn Kate Sears, Caroline Taylor Sears, Margaret Anne Shields, Hallie Elizabeth Shields, Grace Katherine Edwards, Remington Camille Henage, Charles Howard Shields, Lilli Jane Henage, and Emma Brooke Edwards; her sister, Sara Jane Banks Fulmer and her brother William Marcellus Banks, Jr. (Jamie).
The family would like to thank all of the loving and compassionate caregivers that have taken care of our sweet "Tanty."
Services will be held at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church on Friday, April 26th, at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in McGowin Hall.
