Jane was born in Denver, Colorado at Fitzsimons Army Hospital where her father was stationed during his military service. In the coming years, the family moved to Mobile, and Jane started first grade at Old Shell Road School. She was an honor graduate in the first graduating class at St. Paul's Episcopal School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama. While a student there, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and proudly served as president.
She returned to Mobile and enjoyed a career as a paralegal with Hand Arendall and later with Briskman and Binion.
She was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, the Junior League of Mobile, the Mobile Opera Guild, the D.A.R and several mystic organizations. She loved her church, her family, and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Jeffrey Banks Hollis. She is survived by her mother, her brother, Charles Jonathan Hollis Jr., sisters, Julie Hollis Baker (Brent), Frances Hollis Melton (Adam), dear nieces, Anne Rucker Shields (Thomas), Sara Frances Sears, Katie Rucker Edwards (Matthew), Hannah Rucker Henage (Tyler), Catherine Rebecca Melton, Eleanor Elizabeth Melton, Frances Helene Hollis, seven great nieces, and a great nephew.
Services will be held at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 19th, at 12:00 noon.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in McGowin Hall and ask that any memorial gifts be designated for the Alzheimer's support group, "The Long Goodbye", at the church, 1507 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604.
