Earline Cynthia McVay Ashbee, affectionately known as “Lou” died peacefully on Friday, October 25th, 2024. Earline was born in Donora, PA on January 11th, 1930 and was raised in West Bend, AL. She graduated from Coffeeville High School where she was a cheerleader and also played basketball. After graduation Earline moved to Mobile and was employed at GM&O Railroad. She soon met her husband, JC and together they were married for forty nine years, raising two boys. Once the boys were older Lou worked for Gayfers department store in the designer dress department. She loved her work, she loved people and she loved helping ladies look their best. Her hobbies included golf, tennis and gardening. She loved being with her family and at the beach on Dauphin Island. She was a long time member of Springhill Avenue United Methodist Church.
Earline was preceded in death by her husband, James Cleveland Ashbee OD and her brothers Forest Neal McVay and Vance Billy McVay. Survivors include her two sons James Cleveland Ashbee Jr (Jim), and John Barry Ashbee (Ashley); grandchildren, John Sykes Ashbee and James Stephens Ashbee.
A service will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Saturday Nov 2nd at 11am, with visitation at 10am.
