Dorothea Bitzer Pollard

Dorothea Bitzer Pollard, born February 10, 1924, passed away January 24, 2018 at a local nursing facility. Mrs. Pollard was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Geraldine Bitzer, spouse Bruce T. Pollard, Sr., son Bruce T. Pollard, Jr., and sister Valerie McDonough Davis.Mrs. Pollard is survived by daughter Beth Pollard of Mobile; a daughter-in-law Peggy Pollard King (James) of Biloxi; sister Yvonne Bitzer Midgette of Norfolk, VA; brother Charles Bitzer, Jr. of Mobile; two grandchildren April Watkins (Robert) of Ozark, AL; Harry Howard (Wendy) of Palmer, AK; four great grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, and Logan Watkins all of Ozark; Torrence Howard of Palmer AK.Mrs. Pollard was the longest active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Lutheran Braille Workers. She was a past member of two local mystic societies, a graduate of Murphy High School, and was retired from MAWSS.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 1, at 10:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church with funeral service following at 11:00 am. She will receive a Christian burial at Pine Crest Cemetery on DIP. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Grace Lutheran Church for the Lutheran Braille Workers, 1356 Government Street, Mobile, AL 36604.
