Deidre Marie Odom passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the age of 58, after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Deidre was born in Mobile, AL on August 30, 1964. After graduating from John Shaw High School in 1982, Deidre relocated to Sevierville, TN, where she started her life and family of 38 years in the mountains. She then returned to Mobile, AL in September, 2022 to be close to family and friends.
Deidre worked in the hospitality field for 38 years. She worked at Gatlinburg Town Square in Gatlinburg, TN, as their Administrative Assistant for 11 years, along with her boss, Dale Kennedy and best friend, Holly Byrd. There was nothing these three couldn't handle or do for each other.
Deidre was an avid Alabama Football Fan. She cheered for Tennessee as long as they weren't playing each other, then it was Alabama No. 1 and she was always in her full BAMA attire.
Anyone that has spent any time with Deidre knows she loved yard sales, shopping, crafting, dancing and listening to music. She was a novice with a 35mm camera but soon learned how to handle it by taking thousands of pictures. That's not counting cell phone pics!
Deidre was involved with softball for 40+ years over the course of her life; she began playing as an adolescent and her last day on the field not long before she began her treatment. She's spent countless hours at games to cheer on her son Michael. I'm sure that helped mold her into a 'team' player and a wonderfully vivacious mom, friend and mentor.
Deidre loved everything Harley Davidson; she owned and rode a Harley.
She loved being at the beach, serenity of the shore and getting an early start on the tanning season was a must. She loved spending time with Family and Friends BUT MOST OF ALL BEING A GRANNY !!
Deidre was preceded by her parents, Bobby Wayne Odom, Sr. and Mary Diane (Quebedeaux) Odom of Mobile, AL; and is survived by two (2) sons: Michael Farragut (daughter in-law Ashley) and their precious children Asher and Adler Mac of Kodak, TN. Her youngest son Christopher Craig relocated with his mom to Mobile, AL in September. She is also survived by two siblings, her sister Donna Odom (Karl Ladnier) and brother Bobby Wayne. Jr. (Stephanie sister in-law) Odom.
While Deidra's friends are too numerous to count, and by no means as a slight to any of them, Kym Trest, Deidre's best friend of 50+ years has been Deidre's 'Champion' and 'Ride or Die' Sister. “Thank You”
The family greatly appreciates her Caregivers and Gentiva Hospice for all their compassion. With a special thanks to Susan Miller, Deidre's Caregiver the last week of her life.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 2:00 pm. til 4:00pm at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606
