Cecil Thomas Hobbs – a 92 year-old native of Castleberry, AL and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army having served in the European Theater in Patton's Third Army. Mr. Hobbs retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Edith Laurendine Hobbs, and infant daughter, Teresa. He is survived by nine children, Carolyn McHenry (Ricky), Linda Miller (Johnny), Susan Heyer (Joe), Deborah Merriman, Tom Hobbs (Diane), Sissy Booth (Woody Jones), Kathy McCaffrey (Ray), Michael Hobbs, and Kenneth Hobbs; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; sister, Merlene Weaver; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 14, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
