Ben Eugene Cooper – at the age of 85, fought a hard battle but passed away on February 22, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was born in LaFollette, TN on January 18, 1935. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Eugene Cooper; mother, Cleo Card Cooper; and brothers, Dan Riley Cooper and John Michael Cooper. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Perkins Cooper; his beloved daughter, Susan Cooper Graham (Barry); and brother, Richard Card Cooper of Knoxville, TN. He also leaves behind his extended family Sam and Ann Davis, Ashley Davis Winters (David) and Jennifer Davis Burns (Daniel). Ben graduated from LaFollette High School and received a B.S. Degree from Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, TN. Ben served in the United States Army, which he was very proud of, with time served in Korea. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Ben was an avid Tennessee Vols fan. He worked with various construction companies until starting his own, Cooper & Phelps Construction Co. The family would like to thank Alabama Hospice and especially Collese Davis for the love and care that they gave Ben. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 12 -1 p.m. with funeral services following in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Corpus Christi School, or St. Mark United Methodist Church.
