Barbara Marie Lee

Barbara Marie Lee (nee Dunnam) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Marie was born in Navco, Alabama on November 5, 1933 to Ara Rebecca Dunnam (nee Brewer) and James William Dunnam. The youngest of six children, she was born into an already extended family of whom she loved dearly and doted on.

Marie founded and co-owned The Meat Block, a meat specialty/grocery store in Eight Mile, Alabama for over 32 years alongside her husband, Earl Lee. She had previously worked for the grocery store chains, A&P, and Foodtown, Inc. The original Meat Block store still exists today. She was also a proud member of Moffett Road Baptist Church for over 66 years, faithfully attending until a decline in her and Earl’s health kept her from doing so.

Marie is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward Earl Lee, three sons Ronnie Lee (Sherry), Mike Lee (Janis) and Jimmy Lee (Stephanie), six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and scores of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her five siblings, son Bobby Lee (Cindy) and grandson, Jeffrey Lee, along with numerous other friends and family.

Funeral service for Marie will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama 36605. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM, with a chapel service at 1 PM. Marie will be laid to rest in the Lee Family plot in Pine Crest Cemetery, Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama.
