Barbara was born in Seattle, Washington on August 7, 1942. She attended Hillcrest High School in Fort Sumpter, SC where she was a starting guard on the girls’ basketball team and also played on the powder puff football team.
Barbara was married to Ralph on April 15, 1982. They were married 38 years and just 4 days shy of 39 years.
Barbara, a loving mother, was a homemaker, shipyard employee, a childcare provider self-employed and was a Sunday School teacher at Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, crossword puzzles, reading, spending time with family and friends. Barbara made everyone feel welcome in her home, especially her kitchen. She had a special way of making everyone feel so important in her life and loved her family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert I. and Ethel Story and her daughter Pamela Hamilton.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Brown, 4 children: Dennis Kirkland, Derrick Kirkland (Jennifer), the late Pamela Hamilton (Jeff), and Ricky Burns (Tonya). Four brothers, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL, 36606 on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held in the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm. With Dr. James Mercer (Retired), Hollinger’s Island Baptist Church Officiating.
Procession to gravesite and burial service immediately following at Springhill Memorial Gardens 626 Pierce Drive, Mobile, AL 36608.
