Mr. Powell was a native of Flomaton, Alabama but lived in Prichard and Eight Mile Alabama from the time he was seven years old. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Tilton, and Ruby Chavers Powell. He is survived by three children; Arthur Tilton Powell III (Tracey) of Mobile; Angela Powell Beech (Tommy) of Semmes; and Andrew S. (Kathy) Powell of Mobile; three grandsons and four granddaughters; one brother, John D. (Reecie) Powell of Mobile; and long-time friend Janie Sims, of Spanish Fort and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Powell was a graduate of the Vigor High School class of 1952 and Alabama Polytechnic Institute (now Auburn University) class of 1955 where he was a proud member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He worked for his father for four years until he joined Allstate Insurance as an Adjuster and later served as Regional Claims Manager. In 1967 he began working at Davidson & Company, an independent insurance adjusting firm. In 1983 he became President of Davidson & Company, Inc. after purchasing the company. He was a Past President of the Mobile Claims Association, Past President of Prichard Kiwanis Club, Past President of Professional Independent Adjusters of Alabama, and Past Southeast Regional Vice-President of the National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters.
Mr. Powell was a longtime member of Fountain of Life Church in Saraland, formerly Lakeview Assembly of God in Eight Mile and was a member of the Life Group Men’s Bible Study. His classmates will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Active pallbearers are Arthur Tilton Powell IV, Andrew S. Powell Jr., Tommy Beech, Trent Perera, Joseph Hornady, and Buddy Winstead.
Visitation is scheduled for December 19, 2022 from 10:00am to 11:30pm at Fountain of Life Church, 1277 Jubilee Drive, Saraland, Alabama with funeral to follow and graveside service at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fountain of Life Church, Saraland, Alabama, or the Mobile Office of SPCA.
