Ann Todd Coffee

Ann Todd Coffee was born to Stanley and Majorie Todd on October 15, 1935 in Knoxville, Tennessee and left this earth peacefully on November 28, 2023 in Mobile, Alabama. Ann grew up in Coral Gables, Florida graduating from Coral Gables High School. Following high school she attended Rollins College and graduated in 1957 with a degree in Sociology. For the next several decades she would become a pillar of the Winter Park, Florida community where she raised her three daughters, Jorie, Julia and Kathryn with her first husband Nicholas Johns. She held many prestigious positions during this time none more special to her than as the Associate Director of the Orlando Science Center. Ann would go on to find the love of her life, Richard Coffee on a chance weekend away with friends in the early 80s and life would never again be the same. Ann and Dick were married in 1985 and remained inseparable until the very end. The pair would come to settle down in Mobile, Alabama where for over thirty years Ann again became a staple of the local community. From positions with the Exploreum to the March of Dimes and the Arthritis Foundation her love of helping others always shone through. To name but a few of her accolades while in the Mobile community; She was the head of the Arthritis Foundation-S.W. Chapter where she Created Camp M*A*SH (Make Arthritis Stop Hurting) a camp for children with arthritis and their families which later became a national campaign of the Arthritis Foundation; Expanded the Jingle Bell 5K Run to include the Santa Chase - a 1 mile Fun Run where children chased Santa through Fort Conde Village; and Partnered with Providence Hospital to host The Nutcracker Ballet performed by the Moscow State Ballet; As a volunteer for the Red Cross she moved into the local Red Cross for weeks during Hurricane Katrina and fed all the volunteers as they came through preparing to help those affected by the devastation. An avid reader, if she wasn’t in the kitchen you’d rarely catch her without a book in her hand. However, what Ann Coffee will be remembered for most is her cooking. She was the ultimate hostess. Those who knew her said she never met a stranger. Over the years she authored half a dozen cookbooks including several written for WKRG News 5 where for many years you could catch her cooking on air during the morning segment. In her later years she spent time volunteering within the local community at RSVP and the Junior League of Mobile as well as supplying breakfast and lunch for the local Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinic, meals for our local firefighters and police and so much more. Ann held many titles in her life but none more dear to her heart than “Grannie Annie”. Ann was proceeded in death by her parents Stanley and Majorie, her grandsons Joshua and Carlin, her first husband Nicholas Johns and many wonderful friends. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy that includes her loving husband, Dick Coffee; brothers, Richard (Susan) Todd and Robert (Sandra) Todd; daughters, Jorie (Paul) Belisle, Julia (John) Fleshman, Kathryn (Charles) Reeves; sons, Marshall (Milagros) Coffee, Graham (Pamela) Coffee; grandchildren, Jessica (Pavan) Belisle, Connor Coffee, Anique (Liam) Coffee, James (Jordyn) Reeves, Oliver (Nell) Byler, Vicki (Eric) Babington, Beth (Chandler) Larrivee, Mitch (Lana) Larrivee Lauren (Adam) Powell, and Ashley (Jolly) Gonos, great-grandchildren: Elliot, Rylo, Dagyr, Aubrey, Autumn, Alexander, Hannah, Eli, Talia, Lila, Gavin, Vincent, Josephine, Luca, Aidan and Elio; niece Heather (Don) Helfer and nephews Christopher (Melissa) Todd and Kevin Todd Stephen (Tammy) Todd, Tommy (Margaret) Todd and Greg (Jennifer) Todd as well as many loving extended family members and friends
