Ann Hamilton Browning – an 81 year-old native of Mobile and longtime resident of Mobile passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Mrs. Browning worked alongside her late husband at J.E. Browning Floor Company. She was a graduate of Murphy High School and the City Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Browning was involved with the Springhill Medical Center Auxiliary for 11 years, amassing more than 4,000 volunteer hours and serving as its president from 2001-02. She chaired many local Auxiliary committees and held offices on the state board. In 2005, she received the Alabama Hospital Association’s Auxilian Award. She also served three terms as president of Odyssey USA. Mrs. Browning was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Browning, III; son, Charles Daniel Browning; and parents, Capt. Charles Hamilton and Willie Jean Hamilton. She is survived by three children, William C. Browning (Sherra), Terri B. Kennedy (David), and Susan B. Mims (Don); grandchildren, Macie E. Browning, Caitlin E. Mims, and Alexandra K. Mims; great-grandson, Finn S. Kennedy; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 9 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Odyssey USA or Moffett Road Baptist Church.
