Henry Snyder

JULY 8, 1937 – DECEMBER 20, 2022

Henry Snyder, dedicated husband and beloved, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, fellow Marine and friend passed away surrounded by those who loved him at the age of eighty-five on December 20, 2022 having lived a very full and meaningful life.

Born in Niagara Falls, New York on July 8, 1937 to Louise Passero and Walter Markle. Henry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara, whom he met as a teenager in Jamaica Plain, MA and married soon thereafter, he is also survived by his brother David L. Henry is the proud father of his son David and daughters, Deborah, Karen, Cheryl, and Kelly, many adored grandchildren Jennifer, Michael, Melissa, Crystal, Jonathan, Riley and great grandchildren Sebastian, Tyler and Reiner.

From the young age of seventeen, Henry honorably served his country for twenty-eight years within the United States Marine Corps, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1982, he retired out of Camp Pendleton, where he then began a career in finance. Commencing with one of the original software companies for tax return e-filing, and eventually establishing a successful local accounting and tax business spanning close to 40 years.

Hank actively participated in his community through the San Clemente Exchange Club, Dana Point 5th Marine Support Group, and the Marine Corps League. He tirelessly volunteered for numerous fund-raising events in support of the causes he felt most passionate about. Personally knowing the effect this could have on fellow servicemen and the family members of those who have been deployed.

A day spent on the golf course with close friends was the best day of the week, and in years prior, sailing out of the Dana Point harbor, or the shared excitement of the Del Mar Racetrack. Family was of the greatest value and every opportunity for a gathering continued to be at the core of his existence.

Henry is best known for his integrity, quick-witted humor, sound advice, along with an unbounded and generous spirit. His legacy will carry on forever through all the lives he so graciously influenced. He is profoundly missed and greatly cherished by all those lucky enough to have known him.
