Dear Ben, Shannon and Nick, 

We are a bit late, but we are so incredibly sorry for the loss of your angel. 

Several weeks ago, I was going through Facebook messenger and realized that I still had a message from Claudia several years ago that I had not responded to, because you know, life, work, rarely being on Facebook.  Yesterday I had a moment, and logged on to finally reply and apologize for being a crappy friend, and try to reconnect.  And I found that we had lost her.  

Claudia, my sweet friend, I am heartbroken. I will never forget you, or the many years our families shared together as close friends.  We hold so many amazing memories, of the many times we spent together, of the many years our girls were besties and navigating the early teen years together.  The pieces of art work you gifted for us, still and always will be displayed in our home as some of our most precious possessions.  To Hannah, you will always be her mama Claudia, she holds an immense amount of love for you in her heart always.  You were truly such a wonderful friend, which is funny considering our friendship started with me accusing you of being a kidnapper.  (Ha!) 

I wish I would have known somehow that our PCS in 2014 was the last time I would see you in person and hug you.  I regret that Covid canceled our visit in 2020 as well.  You always think you have more time... We love you and your family, forever.

Querida Claudia: me quedo con los bellos recuerdos de nuestra amistad adolescente. Con ese verano juntas en Viña, con tus papis, hermana y prima Pame.  Me quedo con las risas 🤣 secretos, aventuras y conversaciones eternas, comiendo limón con sal, o naranja con azúcar en tu casa en Chillan en calle Libertad esquina Isabel Riquelme. Casa hermosa 🤩 que nos albergó. Vivíamos cerca y caminábamos desde el colegio hasta ahí.
Que buena etapa vivimos.!!!!!! Lamento haber sido tan tonta, cuando me contactaste por redes sociales, no sé 🤷🏻‍♀️ en que momento de mi vida estaba, que no puse más atención y me confundí con el apellido que habías adquirido al casarte. Tonta!!!!! No caí, vivía yo muy lejos en Temuco y con poca conectividad. 
Espero poder ir a ver a tus papis cuando vaya a Santiago, para abrazarlos. Sé que como familia, tu partida los deja con mucha pena y vacío.  Ellos fueron unos padres preocupados, cariñosos y te adoraban.

Like my brother, I too remember meeting up with you, Claudia and the kids at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. I remember a fun family cookout on the beach across the airport runway no less! May the Lord bless you with comfort, strength and peace that you will all need throughout this time and after.

I am so sorry for your loss. As a first cousin to Ben and a family man myself, I wish I could have spent more time with all of you. As a career military man, I understand your path, and I understand that seeing more of you just wasn't possible. I do remember one time our paths crossed while you were stationed in Hawaii and I just happened to be TDY there as well. We were able to meet for dinner at Pinky's Pupu Bar & Grill and we broke bread together and enjoyed each other's company. My travel companion summed up the night on the way back to our hotel when he said "what a great family". Please accept our condolences and know that we are only a phone call away.

It’s difficult to put into words just how much Claudia means to my family. I think everyone feels that way when they lose someone so incredibly important to them. For my parents, she was one of their best friends—part of a small, tight-knit circle filled with some of the most amazing people I know.

Her passing has brought a profound sadness, but also a deep sense of gratitude—for the years of friendship, laughter, and love that she shared so generously. 

Claudia was a beacon of light—someone who radiated joy. One of our favorite things about her was that no matter how much time passed between visits or the occasional phone call, we could always pick up exactly where we left off. I used to love going out to dinner with her and my mom, hearing stories about Chile, talking about soccer, school, and life. She adored her kids and Ben—they were her whole world, right alongside her close friends.

To be loved by Claudia was to be truly known. She had this beautiful way of seeing people. She always knew the perfect birthday gift (like the tapestry she picked out for my dorm), or exactly what to say when you needed comfort or a laugh. Claudia was the most wonderful friend—loyal, thoughtful, vibrant, and full of heart.
We will miss her every single day, but we’ll carry her love with us always. And in the stories, the memories, and the laughter she left behind, she’ll never be far.


To Claudia’s beloved family—please know how deeply she was loved by all of us. Her warmth, her laughter, and her love have left an imprint that will never fade. Thank you for sharing her with us. We are better for having known her.

I’m so very sorry to hear of Claudia’s passing. She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help my students at San Onofre during 2010-2016. Till this day, this picture still makes me laugh out loud!

Back then, I had four kids, and Carlos was hands-down one of the most rambunctious of them all—full of energy, curiosity, and just a little bit of chaos. I was running on fumes and desperately needed a break. Claudia, always so kind and eager to help, saw it in my face and offered to watch him for a few hours. I was beyond grateful.

Well… not even two hours later, I get a call from her asking, “Where are you?”

I told her I was just down the road at the dog park. Next thing I know, she pulls up, drops Carlos off, and says with the most loving but exhausted expression, “I can’t do it anymore!”

Turns out she had plans with her mom that day, but the way she dropped him off, it felt like she was waving the white flag! We joked about it for years—how she lasted barely two hours before “returning” him like a wild little package. We always laughed that she just pulled up, dropped him at the curb, and drove off like a getaway car.

It was one of those moments that perfectly captured who Claudia was—loving, generous, funny, and real. She meant so well, and even in the chaos, she managed to make everything lighter. It’s a memory that’s stayed with me all these years and still brings such a warm (and hilarious) smile to my face. 
You brought so much joy, love, and light to everyone around you. I’ll forever cherish our memories and carry your spirit with me. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You will never be forgotten.

I remember this day like it was yesterday—ceviche at El Ranchito! We would go all day without eating, just so we could fully indulge in the freshest ceviche and the coldest margaritas that evening. The anticipation alone made it even better, knowing we were about to share another unforgettable night filled with laughter, stories, and pure joy.
It felt like we were the only people there—nothing else mattered but us, our food, and the incredible moments we created. I can still hear her contagious laugh, the way she would throw her head back and let it fill the room, making everyone around her smile. That kind of joy, that kind of light—she carried it with her wherever she went.
I love you, my dear friend. While my heart aches knowing you’re no longer here, I find comfort in believing this is not goodbye—just see you later. Now, I have to make sure I do everything right here on Earth so I can see your beautiful soul again.
Until then, I will hold onto our memories, cherish every laugh we shared, and keep your spirit alive in my heart. I love you always. 💛

Aún no logro reponerme de esta absurda situación. no tiene sentido que ya no estés, que ya no vaya a escuchar tu risa en respuesta a algún chiste mío. Me cuesta aceptar que ya no estará más esa respuesta amable, directa y ese afán por hacer que todo fuera simplemente mejor a cómo el mundo lo presentaba. Pero no puedo quedarme cuestionando eternamente tu muy prematura partida, así que elijo recordarte con todo el amor que te tengo. 
Elijo escuchar de nuevo tu risa, tu voz cantando a todo pulmón con Alanis Morissette, tu cara feliz devorando un helado gigante en la playa, tu cara de niña viendo feliz como las ardillas se iban acercando mientras las mirábamos en la plaza. Elijo recordarte así, feliz, risueña, con tu cara de orgullo mostrándome las fotos de tus hijos o los trucos de la Mati, con tus ojos de enamorada cuando mirabas a Ben. Elijo agradecerte infinitamente haber cambiado mi vida por completo y así abro la puerta para que quedes en mi recuerdo para siempre  con tu sonrisa pura, bondadosa y verdadera, mi querida prima

I still can't recover from this absurd situation. It makes no sense that you're no longer here, that I won't hear your laughter in response to one of my jokes. I find it hard to accept that that kind, direct response, and that eagerness to make everything simply better than the world presented it, will no longer be there. But I can't sit around questioning your premature departure day after day, so I choose to remember you with all the love I have for you. I choose to hear your laughter again, your voice singing at the top of your lungs with Alanis Morissette, your happy face devouring a giant ice cream cone on the beach, your childlike face happily watching the squirrels approach as we watched them in the park. I choose to remember you like this, happy, smiling, with your proud face showing me photos of your children or Mati's tricks, with your lovelorn eyes when you looked at Ben. I choose to thank you infinitely for changing my life completely, and so I open the door for you to remain in my memory forever with your pure, kind, and true smile, my beloved cousin.

I will always cherish your smile and sincere heart. I love you my dear friend. Cheers to the awesome moments we had and for the lifetime memories we made.

Fuiste una tía maravillosa, que pese a la distancia se mantuvo siempre pendiente de sus sobrinos, los amabas con el alma y te llenabas de felicidad cuando podías verlos o abrazarlos. Quisiera que hubiesen podido disfrutarte por mucho tiempo más, pero se que ellos nunca te olvidarán, que recordarán tus abrazos, tu cariño y más de alguna “anécdota” que vivieron contigo. Gracias por quererlos tanto, te amamos.

Their love was so strong, it could make anyone blush. Through every storm—good, bad, and the scars of past trials—Ben stood strong. No matter what life threw their way, they faced it together, always coming out better and stronger. Their love was truly an inspiration.
I can’t even begin to imagine what it feels like to lose the love of your life, but I pray that the Lord grants you peace and comfort. Though we may not understand why things happen, we can hold onto hope—hope in seeing her again. Know that she is now in a far better place than all of us, healthier than ever, in the most beautiful place we all strive to be… heaven. She’s waiting for the day she will be reunited with her beautiful family once more.
Stay hopeful and know that even though the pain may never fully go away, you are not alone. She is with you in spirit, watching over you, loving you, and guiding you—just as she always has.

Claudia Wall was the kindest, smartest, most cheerful, feistiest, and wonderful person I’ve ever met. If the universe had allowed it, we’d have given her the world—but instead, she got Ben. And if you ask me, that was pretty darn close.
From everything I know, Ben has always been Claudia’s rock, her foundation, her reason for living. When she talked about how they met (yes, I heard about the trench coat!), her face would light up, and she’d go on and on about him. She spoke so beautifully about who he was, and if you ever saw them together, you’d know why. The love between them was undeniable—pure, inspiring, and full of joy.
Ben did everything for Claudia, always making it look easy, even when it wasn’t. He did it for her, for their family, out of a love so deep and unwavering. The Wall family is overflowing with love, happiness, and pure blessings—a testament to the beautiful life they built together.
Ben, I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. Please keep being that rock and guiding star for your family. I truly believe that, just as fiercely as she loved the three of you, Claudia will always be with you—watching over, loving, and protecting you, just as she always has.

One thing I always knew about Claudia Wall was that her family meant everything to her—her kids and her husband were her world. Each of them gave her a unique sense of purpose, a joy no one else could provide, and a love that made her already golden heart grow even bigger. She spoke about them constantly, and her love for them was boundless.

I’ll always remember how, every chance she got, she’d stop Nic in the hallways, showering him with hugs and kisses until his hair was messy and his face turned bright red. I’ve never seen a mother love her children as deeply and openly as she did. She was, and always will be, the most incredible, super-powered woman I’ve ever known—a true example of unconditional, motherly love. Her children were the luckiest in the world to have her as their mom.

Though we may never fully understand why God called her home so soon, I have no doubt that she left behind countless beautiful memories for her children to carry with them through life. And just as she loved them fiercely on Earth, I know she will continue to find ways to remind them from heaven that she is still with them—watching over them, guiding them, and loving them always.

A Woman with a Heart of Gold 💛

I am beyond grateful for the love and kindness she showed me and my family. She embraced us with open arms, not just as friends but as family, accepting us wholeheartedly and making us feel truly at home. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support were a testament to the beautiful soul she was.

In the short years we knew each other, our bond grew in ways I never expected. We connected deeply, sharing moments of joy, laughter, and understanding that will forever be etched in my heart. She had a way of making everyone around her feel valued and loved, and her presence was a gift that I will always treasure.

Though our time together was not nearly long enough, the memories we created will stay with me for a lifetime. Her kindness, strength, and love will continue to inspire me, and I will always carry a piece of her in my heart.

To the Wall Family,
I can’t even begin to imagine the depth of your pain, and I find myself struggling to process this loss. Please know that my heart aches for each of you, and I am truly sorry for what you are going through. While words may not bring the comfort you need right now, I want you to know that the best I can offer is my prayers. I will be praying for the Lord to guide each of you through this time, to bring healing to your hearts, and to surround you with peace and comfort from friends, family, and loved ones.

This was one of many pictures we took during my last visit with you. Had I known it would be our last, I would’ve said so much more. I would’ve told you how deeply grateful I am for your love, for being my greatest friend, and for always believing in me. Claudia Wall once said, “I love who I get to be when I’m with you.” At first, I didn’t think much about this quote, but now, looking back, I realize just how deeply it resonates with me—because that’s exactly how I felt when I was with her.

She was a beautiful human being with the biggest heart, someone who made the world brighter just by being in it. Her kindness, her warmth, and her ability to bring joy into even the simplest moments were truly special. I am so incredibly grateful for the time we shared, for every adventure, every laugh, and every heartfelt conversation.

I’ll always cherish our Goodwill treasure hunts, the thrill of finding the perfect little gems among the shelves, and the way we could turn something so simple into a memory worth keeping. And our plant-clipping escapades—oh, how those moments still make me laugh out loud! The way we would sneak a tiny leaf or a sprout, giggling like kids, and then nurture it into something beautiful—it was such a perfect reflection of who she was. She saw the beauty and potential in everything, and she shared that gift with those lucky enough to know her.

Even now, I find myself smiling at the memories, feeling the warmth of her presence in every laugh, every plant, and every little moment that reminds me of her. Though she is no longer here, the love and joy she brought into my life will stay with me forever.

She made life better, brighter, and so much more meaningful. I miss her dearly, but I am endlessly grateful for the gift of her friendship. I will hold her in my heart always. 💛

Claudia was a natural artist. I had the pleasure of teaching Claudia macrame.  She didn't need much guidance. It was as though she'd been doing it all of her life. 🤍

Claudia left us too soon, it is my hope and prayer that you find peace and remember all the fun things about her and what she meant to you as your wife and mother to your beautiful kids. Be strong my friend, take comfort that she’s no longer suffering.
