It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved daughter, Amy, on January 14, 2024, at the young age of 39. She was born December 21, 1984, at Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim, CA.
Amy filled our lives with love from the moment she came into the world. She was the light of my life. Curious and very intelligent from a young age, she was walking at ten months and could write out the complete alphabet at four years of age. In grade school, she was a good reader and scored in the upper 90th percentile in the national (NAEP) tests for reading comprehension. Amy was always asking questions, a quick learner, and open to new possibilities. She was very interested in music and participated in a rock band where she played guitar and sang.
Amy was very independent and fearless. At age 22, she followed her boyfriend to Texas and settled in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. She found it easier to make a living there and decided to stay after giving birth to a beautiful baby girl, Marilyn Fawks on October 19, 2009.
In 2014, she earned an Associate in Science degree from Tarleton State University of Texas and worked as a Medical Lab Technician for hospitals and independent labs.
In 2020, Amy and two of her associates founded a podcast “The Downtown” of Arlington Citizens Media, which produced over 156 interviews of people involved with the commerce and many issues of Arlington, Texas. Their interviews ranged from restaurants, bars, musicians, and athletes, to city council members and politicians from the local area.
She recently experienced an acute medical condition, Pancreatitis. She decided to fly to her original home in Orange County, CA for treatment. Before she could be treated, she unexpectedly passed away in her sleep.
My wife Lynn, myself, Marilyn’s father Cody Fawks, and his family wish to thank all those who have offered us help through this trying time. Your support has meant the world to us. I have decided to set up a Texas 529 College Plan for her now 14-year-old daughter, Marilyn. If anyone is interested in contributing, please contact me personally.
Bill Gibson, Father.
