Mary Mildred Green

Mildred Williams Green went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 26, 2015. She was born in Rio Grande City, Texas where she lived most of her life and moved to McAllen, Texas in 1966. Mildred was 92 years old at the time of her passing. Her son, Jesse Jr. and his wife, Margaret, as well as her grandchildren, Paul Flamer, Paula Greenfield Burns, Lynn Greenfield and Cecilia Marie Green were with her when she passed.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Jean Stephens (Alan); Dorothy Dixon (Barry); and her sons, Jesse Green Jr. (Margaret); and Dudley Green (Sherry); as well as her son-in-law Bennie Greenfield. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Green; her mother Paula Olguin; her father, Joe Williams; her daughter, Jessica Greenfield; her great-granddaughter Katy Flamer; and many of her life-long friends.

Mildred was the love of her husband, Jesse, as he was hers. They met in Fort Ringgold where Jesse was stationed in the Cavalry and married in 1943. They couldn't stand to be apart from each other for very long. They had a strong and happy marriage that lasted 69 years. As a stay-at-home mom, she lovingly cared for her children. She could always be seen promoting school functions for the children, and enjoyed picnics and beach outings. Mildred could always be counted on to be the life of the party. She loved exercising, dancing and performing for her family and friends. She was way ahead of her contemporaries as she enjoyed hula dancing, belly dancing, and yoga while her friends watched in amazement.

Mrs. Green was loved and adored by all her grandchildren. She was the most amazing Grandma anyone could ask for. She marched to the beat of her own drum, and we all loved that about her. She made every moment we spent with her memorable; full of delight and laughter. She gave us the greatest treasures, an abundance of the best memories of our times together. In her eyes, each and everyone of us was special, and she made sure we knew it. Through the eyes of all her grandchildren, she was beautiful, talented, funny, one of a kind, and most of all, the most loving Grandma. She will live in our hearts forever.
