Lily Ann Murray

McAllen - Lily Ann (McGee) Murray passed away peacefully on the morning of June 5, 2022, at the Comfort House in McAllen, Texas. Lily's family is grateful for the loving care that our Mom received from the staff and volunteers of the Comfort House and also from the staff of Allstate Hospice Agency.

Lily Ann was born in Painesville, Ohio, on September 21, 1938, to Florence and James McGee, and graduated from Perry High School in 1956. She married Alfred Rorabaugh and they had a daughter, Leanne Marie. She and Alfred later divorced. Lily Ann married Maurice E. Murray, Jr., on December 5, 1959. With the birth of son, Johnny Michael, their family was complete.

Mom loved to garden and created beautiful flower beds and yards. She was an avid crafter and loved to play music. Cats and dogs were treasured by Mom who always had a pet next to her. She cared deeply about family and was caregiver for several older relatives. She worked for a plastics manufacturing plant as Executive Vice President. After retirement, she and Maurice traveled the United States in an RV, enjoying the views and meeting new people. They finally settled in McAllen where she enjoyed the warmth, swimming, gardening, and birdwatching.

Lily Ann was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Maurice E. Murray, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Florence and James McGee, and her grandmother, Lillian Borden.

Lily Ann is survived by her son, Johnny Murray, daughter, Leanne Murray and daughter-in-law, Nancy Mouché.

The family requests that any donations in Lily Ann's name be made to the Comfort House, 617 Dallas Avenue, McAllen, Texas, 98501.

Funeral service will be held today, June 8, 2022 at Del Angel Funeral Home in Mission at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
