Hector G Perez

Hector G. Perez of McAllen, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 85. Hector was born on December 5, 1938, in Los Herreras, Mexico. At a young age his family moved to McAllen Texas where he lived most of his life. He attended McAllen schools where he made many lifelong friends. Hector graduated from Pan American College and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in education. He worked as a teacher for McAllen ISD and went on to Region One Education Center as a math consultant. When Hector retired, he worked as a math book consultant for Prentice Hall as well as for Pearson and National Geographic.

Hector was actively involved at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Throughout his life, he was a people person who enjoyed being with family and making new friends.

Hector is preceded in death by his parents Gilberto and Guadalupe Perez; his sister, Lucinda Quintanilla. Clarisa Perez – Tovar, his daughter was also waiting for his arrival.

Hector is survived by his wife Gracie; son, Hector Eduardo; his grandchildren, Miguel S Tovar, Caleb A Tovar, and Caitlin M. Tovar. Hector is also survived by his siblings, Olga Torres, Oralia (Manuel) Ortega, Gilberto (Amelia) Perez, Amalia (Eilberto) Zepeda and Irma (Joel) Hernandez. Hector also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Saturday August 31, 2024 at 9am with burial to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 10am.
