The Los Angeles public school system lost a local hero when one if its own passed away from health complications in West Hills, on March 5th.
Bob was a career administrator, educator and athletic team coach for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 42 years.
Born in Long Beach, CA, to Bill and Florence of NYC. They later moved to the San Fernando Valley. As a graduate of Monroe High School (class of '66), Bob then graduated with degrees in teaching and school administration from Valley State (CSUN) where he was proud to have played in the 1967 Junior Rose Bowl.
Bob retired in 2011 as Principal of Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies. His leadership catapulted his school to the top API public school in the Valley, winning national, state, and local awards for academic and extracurricular programs. He also worked at Granada Hills High, Taft High, Bret Harte Jr. High, and Fremont High.
As a huge sports fan, Bob enjoyed anything with a ball in it. From UCLA football and basketball to Dodger baseball. Although a rough and tumble guy he was the biggest, kindest, loving teddy bear ever!
Predeceased by his parents and brother Jerry, Bob is survived by and will be forever missed by his wife Nancy, daughter Rebecca, granddaughter Kamiryn, sons Ben, Adam, Todd, brothers Steve (Violetta) and Gavriel (Tova), former wife Lorraine (Val), a multitude of loving nephews, nieces, cousins, cherished friends, colleagues, and innumerable students who are working to make this a better world.
