She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., to Joseph and Julia Karp. She attended the High School of Performing Arts for two years, and when the family moved to Los Angeles in 1949, she graduated from Dorsey High. She then went to UCLA for two years, where she met her husband, Paul Greenberg.
They married in 1954, at the conclusion of Paul’s first year of medical school at UCLA. Joan worked many years in Paul’s medical office as a secretary and bookkeeper.
Among her favorite activities was traveling, and she felt fortunate to be able to see much of the world. She was very excited to visit Antarctica as her seventh continent. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle player, and enjoyed bridge, golf and tennis, all while raising three wonderful and successful children.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Paul; her daughter, Shari Greenberg, of Hermosa Beach, CA; her son David, and daughter-in-law Teri; and her granddaughters, Jessica, Rachel and Shannon, of San Diego, CA; and her daughter Kris Cameron, M.D., and son-in-law Terry; and her grandson Ian, of Stuttgart, Germany.
Services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 1:00pm, at Groman Eden Mortuary. Services will be officiated by Celebrant Deborah CarrNahmias, and will conclude Graveside, in Eden Memorial Park.
