Missing you today dear Ms. Lewis. Our children love you and miss you soo much! 

Thinking of you today Ms. Lewis! You are always in our hearts. Every time we think of you we feel such joy of all the good, and fun memories we had with you. You were an amazing person to everyone. 

When my parents were late in picking me up she used to take me in her class and we would talk and clean the desks. And after that she gave me a small treat.

Bonnie taught in the classroom next to mine for several years at R.D. White and knew each other from around 2005 until her passing.  We also shared two mutual friends who she had worked with at Horace Mann.  We got to know each other well by sharing our four birthdays at dinner after work or just for fun whenever possible.  

Bonnie had such a positive attitude and a love for life.  She loved to smile, laugh, and joke.  She had a true generosity of spirit that is very rare to find.  Bonnie shared her materials, her time, and her love with anyone who was receptive to her.

Bonnie wanted so much to go back to work and she tried so hard to get there.  She loved her family so much and being there for them was very important to her.  She worked such long days because she wanted to be there for the students she tutored as well.  

Bonnie loved to give, and give, and give some more.  She had a gift for giving to others because she paid attention.  I am so happy to have the things she gave me around my house to remind me of her beautiful spirit.  There is a large Dream Catcher, a leaded glass teapot welcome sign with real flowers encased in the glass, an Audubon journal for bird watching observations for my many hikes, a little red and white stocking Bonnie crocheted for me in December, and orchids that bloom every year.  Thank you Bonnie for the gifts and especially for your friendship!

It was a lesson in love to meet Bonnie's family at the hospital and at her funeral service.  I was so happy for Bonnie that her family was by her side during her final days.  What a comfort that must have been to her.  The love of Bonnie's family was palpable at her funeral and it continues in their loving memories of her, and in our memories as well.

We want to let the family know that Mrs. Lewis was a an amazing Teacher that went beyond on loving and helping children making sure they were learning and made sure that they were happy. She help me and my family so much with her encouraging words and love when we were going through some hard times. She was so amazing she tutored my children and sometime came from woodland hills to Glendale to tutor them. I will never forget everything she did for us and her unconditional love to our family. She would talk about her siblings and she just had so much love she was an amazing person! I wish I knew she was in the Hospital I would have gone to see her or have attended her funeral. You will forever be in our hearts Ms. beautiful Lewis!

We just heard the sad news about Ms Lewis, this is so heart breaking she was an amazing teacher with so much love. We will never forget her. My children and family will miss her so much.

Mrs. Lewis was my 4th grade teacher, and I remember how we connected so easily. She made this little trip a few times to the Glendale Galleria Mall with a few other students called Mall Crawl, and I would always be excited to go along because I could act like an adult and pay for my own items. Our bond grew after 4th grade, she would come over to my place and tutor me, we would go out with my mom and have lunch, go shopping together, have amazing conversations together. I would often go to her class and help her out with her kindergarteners, and in front of me was someone who had patience with little kids, who inspired others to be kind and love one another, who connected so easily with anyone and everyone. My mom and I went through a lot, and Mrs. Lewis helped us get through so much of it. Her personality was so bubbly, so cheerful and everytime we spoke to each other, whether it be on the phone or in person, she would bright up our day. She was a support system for many people, and that's what always amazed my mom and I, she was a positive light, and someone who lived life to its fullest. Family and students were something she would always talk about, and she admired so many people in her life. When I graduated high school, I had to have her see me walk the stage, she was family to us. Now I'm 19, and it saddens me that she's not able to see me grow more as a young adult. She's been by my side helping me through elementary, middle and high school and the beginning of my college days. I will always remember her laugh, her cheerful personality, and I know her soul will be with us forever. We love so much Mrs. Lewis.

To a sister of great rapport: Kind, generous and loving. Bonnie was and is a grand sister, devoted wife and a superb teacher. It made me extremely proud to witness her accomplishments. I saw students that genuinely adored her and I marveled at the crafty ways she fit artistic expression into every lesson. Nay, music and art were fit into every nook and cranny of an exciting life. Alas, the end of earthly endeavors came way too soon. But in some way, it makes the memories of what she did even sweeter, for they are treasures -  offered but for a limited time only. Bonnie was a rare and individual creation.
Bonnie's creative spirit sparked mine. Anything that I might create or become will have a direct connection to her influence. She will follow me throughout this life and, as I suspect, into heaven itself. Now I am certain that is where she resides. Whether I am able to make the cut is another issue entirely. That said, there is a cosmic party going on and most of the spirits that I desire to re-associate with are in attendance: my friend and Bonnie's husband Rodney, our loving mother Alice, sage grandmother Edith and all the rest, alongside a zoo of beloved pets. It is my sincere wish and great solace to know that she is enjoying the afterlife. Though I plan to loiter on earth a piece... I have RSVP'd and plan to sing and dance with much joy at the celebration of souls. Remember always, however, that waiting to be joyful is unnecessary for we are never truly separated: The threads that bind our lives to loved ones are resilient and eternal. Sing and Dance whenever the opportunity arises.

My sister was the most amazing person I will ever know! She taught me so many things during her life, everything from how to roller-skate to believing in myself even when the deck was stacked against me. She helped me raise my daughter into the beautiful, intelligent, caring person she is today and I will always be thankful for that. She was my biggest supporter in every project I took on. From my first crush, to motherhood, through the loss of our mother, to my second career as a teacher, she was there by my side "always and forever"! Now she watches over me through her many friends and our family, as you are all so supportive and helpful! Bonnie always put others before herself, which is shown through her last words said before going into the operation, "Be kind to each other as it does make a difference!" I will miss our morning coffee, watching old movies with her, and singing Broadway tunes at family gatherings! Kiss Rod and Mom for me; love you always and forever!

Music was a big passion of hers. When Uncle Rod was around, she would play every holiday or family get together. She encouraged us to sing along (even those of us who were tone deaf)! She loved music so much she started a choir at her school for all ages. She was a great teacher who will be missed by all. We love you Aunt Bonnie.

     The first day I met Bonnie, I was setting up my new classroom in Glendale. She came in and climbed up on the bookcases to help me put up bulletin boards that I could not reach! She was always ready to lend a helping hand, encourage you, smile and share a fun event, or just hang out and listen to you. She shared her life and love of teaching with her students and friends. I appreciated her wisdom and her forgiving heart.  She loved her family, friends and students wholeheartedly.  She is leaving a hole that can only be filled with memories of the wonderful person, wife, sister, aunt, daughter and friend she was. My life is richer, and better for having spent time with her. I thank God for that time.
