He recently celebrated a remarkable 50 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Virginia. Larry was a cherished Poppa to his adoring grandchildren Scarlett, Melvin, and Jack.
Born on July 31, 1952 in New Westminster, Larry was a dedicated family man and a loyal friend and neighbour. He was the beloved brother of John, Sandy & Rob, Gary & Beulah, Robbie, Lorna, Melvina & Dave, and Cynthia & Steve, and his presence brought humour and kindness to those who knew him.
Larry dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to Southern Rail, where he worked tirelessly until his well-earned retirement in 2011.
Outside of work, Larry found great joy in puttering around his yard and creating a beautiful outdoor space for his family to enjoy. In recent years, Larry spent many hours in his shop, creating beautiful wood pieces, decorations for the house and gifts for the grandkids. He valued moments spent with his grandchildren, who loved their Poppa dearly.
Larry's love extended beyond his family to his community, where he was a friend and neighbor to many. His kindness, generosity, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry Vail leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Fraser Valley Humane Society, a cause Larry supported over the years.
