It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harmien (Mary) Braaksma, beloved wife of Sietse (Sid) Braaksma, on April 14, 2024. She passed away at home peacefully in her sleep. Though our sorrow is profound, it is tempered by the joy of knowing that she is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. May her memory be a blessing to us all, and may we find comfort in the knowledge that she is forever in God's loving embrace.
Harmien was born on August 13, 1940, in The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in April 1952, where her family settled in Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Harmien was 16 years old when Sietse first saw her at a church youth group, and it did not take long for him to capture her heart. They married on June 8, 1962, settled in Maple Ridge, BC and soon after started a family. Family was her whole world; she was a loving and devoted wife and a caring and nurturing mother/grandmother. She loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart and read her bible daily. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Harmien is lovingly remembered by her husband, Sietse, and her siblings, Grace Pilon, Fritz Ludwig and Shirley Lodewyk. Her children Sidney & Lynn Braaksma, Timothy & Deann Braaksma, Tamara & Roger Andres and Larissa & Michael Konrad, along with 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Harmien Braaksma will be held on April 20, 2024 at Northview Community Church, Mission BC. Please keep Harmien's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
