Maureen is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Alexander F. Strauss Sr.; her loving son Alexander F. Strauss Jr. (Tracy Strauss); and her cherished daughter Amy E. Strauss; her sister Deborah Splendorio (Michael Splendorio), her sister Charlene Froehlich (George Froehlich) and her sister in law Margaret Branca (Paul Branca); her granddaughter Ashley Anthony (daughter of Amy) and her grandson Alexander F. Strauss III (son of Alex and Tracy).
Maureen was devoted wife and a selfless mother of two. Maureen worked with Bell telephone before becoming a full time mother and homemaker. She was very active in raising her two children attending various sports and school functions. Maureen would always volunteer to be her childrens taxi cab driver taking them to all their friends and events, often picking up their friends and taking them home.While her children were attending school, Maureen was active in the PTA eventually becoming president of the PTA, she also worked the local and national elections.
She loved and spoiled her grandchildren and helped take care of both Ashley and Alex while her children worked. Always putting the needs of others in front of hers. She enjoyed her Irish background and one of her favorite trips was to Ireland. Maureen loved to travel with her family and friends. She was an ardent novel reader. She also had many beloved pets, her dog, Sammy, her cats Prinnie, Whiskers, Mr. Fluff and Stuff and Sarah Jane, and her parakeet, Handsome.
A visitation for Maureen will be held Friday, November 17, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes - Miller Place, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, New York 11764. A visitation will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 1001 Route 25A, Miller Place, New York 11764. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9:30 AM at St Anthony of Padua RC Church, 614 Route 25A, Rocky Point, New York 11778. A committal service & interment will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 225 Brentwood Rd, Bay Shore, NY 11706.
