Harry was one of 18 children and spent his formative years with his family in Bath, NC. In 1956 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and while stationed in Brooklyn, NY he met the love of his life, Carol “Cookie” Garbarino who worked as a secretary in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Harry and Carol were married at St. Mary’s RC Church on Dec. 12, 1959 in Brooklyn where they began their family with the arrival of Harry Jr in 1960, Nancy in 1962 and Eric in 1964.
In 1968 Harry and Carol moved to Sound Beach, NY and the family grew by two with the additions of Elizabeth in 1970 and Virginia in 1971. At this time Harry began his employment with New York Telephone Company where the he worked until his retirement in 1992. They remained in Sound Beach raising their family and welcomed their first two Grandchildren before Carol passed away in 1997. Harry remained a resident of Sound beach until his recent passing
Harry is survived by his son Harry Paul Jr. (Ryan); his daughter Nancy Paul (Hope); his son Eric Paul (Mary); his daughter Liz Petrilak (Andy); and his daughter Virginia Paul; his grandson Mark Paul, his granddaughter Devona Paul, his granddaughter Amanda Paul, his granddaughter Rachel Petrilak, and his grandson Connor Paul-Lurch; his sister Linda and his brother-in-law Jit, his sister Retha, his sister Alma, and his brother Elbert. Harry also leaves behind his devoted and loving personal caregiver Sam Yeboah, as well as his long-time companion Donna Eberspacher.
Harry was preceded in death by his spouse Carol Paul (Nee: Garbarino).
Mr. Paul was predeceased by many siblings as well: Mary, Evelyn, Leroy, Hubert, Nancy, Louis, Frances, Sterling, Alphonso, George, Shirley, Bobby, and Joshua.
A visitation for Harry will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St Louis de Montfort RC Church, 75 New York Ave, Sound Beach, New York 11789.
An interment will occur Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram, NY.
