Heaven grew a little brighter today and gained a sweet spirit. “God saw that you were tired and that you needed rest, so He wrapped His loving arms around you and took the very best.” Wendy Mae Zoumadakis Wright returned home suddenly at age 58 on Monday, September 20th 2021.
Wendy was born on July 30, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Helen MaRee Rowe and William “Bill” Zoumadakis. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1981 and went on to study music at the University of Utah. She played the clarinet and the piano and truly lit up a room with her musical talent. Her love for music accompanied her throughout life and brought joy to all who had the pleasure of listening.
Wendy married her eternal companion Stephen Orson Wright on July 16th, 1986. They met at an LDS singles boating activity and shared a love of the outdoors and all things on the water. They raised four children together: Willam “Blake,” Danielle, Nicolea, and Austin. When she wasn’t telling fun stories or playing Pictionary with her family, she was seen crawling on the ground with her grandchildren and chasing them around the kitchen. Her most treasured nickname was ‘Yiayia’ (grandmother in Greek) and she wore it with pride.
One of Wendy’s finest qualities was her desire to take care of others. She had a giant heart and was always willing to see past people’s faults in order to find the good. She thrived on finding ways to make them feel welcomed. Over the years she made many strong connections with those she served and formed dear, enduring relationships.
Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Wright; her children and their spouses, William “Blake” Wright, Danielle (Zak) States, Nicolea (Daniel) Jones, and Austin Wright; her grandchildren, Milo, Parker, Crew, and Rachel; and her siblings, Kathy (Chris) Floor and Melany Zoumadakis. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews and all those who considered her as close as a family member. Wendy is reunited with her parents, William “Bill” Zoumadakis and Helen MaRee Rowe Zoumadakis, her brother George Zoumadakis, and her dear friend Tammy Clark.
