Ed was born on October 13th, 1935, to Walter Howard and Inez Thelma Aumick Larrabee in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of 7 children. He took great pride in caring for his mother after his father died. He had a very strong bond with his brothers and sisters. Ed was Husband to the late “Kaye” Helen Larrabee. He left this life for his next journey on March 15, 2022 after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.
From an early age he had an attraction to anything mechanical. He learned as he worked side by side with his father. He repaired washers, dryers, and TVs as a young man, but his true love was cars. He owned and rebuilt numerous automobiles. He worked as a parts clerk for Strevell Patterson and then worked as a repairman for RCA. He opened an American Oil Service Station in Holladay in 1968 and ran it until he sold it in the early 80s. He was then in charge of maintenance for the Waterbury condominiums for a number of years and did maintenance for other apartment complexes after retiring from Waterbury. Ed had a talent for making friends everywhere he went. He helped many people with all kinds of things such as buying a first car, car and appliance repairs, and home remodeling. He had a strong work ethic. He loved to travel and had a real zest for life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Kaye, his parents, siblings, a daughter Ruth Ann, and a son Richard Dean (Dick). He is survived by his children, Lois (Ed) Ashby, Patricia (Michael) Perlman, Walter Larrabee, Julie Maxfield, David (James) White, Heidi (Bill) Owen, Dennis (Paulett) Fowler, LeGrand (Jaye) Larrabee, and Bonnie Walters. He is also survived by former wives Myrla “Libby” Cobb, Susan Phelps, Joyce Caldwell, and stepchildren Patrick, Sheryl, Amy, Stephanie, Brett, Kevin, Wendy, and Wade. He has 27 grandchildren, and 68 great grandchildren.
