Our sweet Tammy departed this life on the evening of November 5, 2020, at the age of 74, blessed to be in her own home in Millcreek, Utah. Tammy was the only child of John Harold and Ardella Lugt Groves born on August 3, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her family moved to their home in Millcreek in 1951 when Tammy was 5 years old.
After her father passed away in 1980 and her mother followed him in 1990, Tammy soldiered on by herself. She worked hard to keep the family home and yard work up. Not having a driver’s license, Tammy walked everywhere to get errands done; Grocery Store, Bank, Dentist, etc. In the process of being responsible for so much on her own, Tammy made friends with people all over the valley. People would see her walking and offer to give her a ride. Her neighbors especially looked out for Tammy. Through the years, many caring neighbors reached out to Tammy to help her with her many responsibilities. She was not shy to ask those she loved to preform large jobs for her. Many loving and caring relationships were formed because of Tammy’s meek and cute personality. It was not hard to love Tammy.
Tammy always loved her dogs. Once when she was without a canine friend, the youth in her neighborhood came together to find her a dog whose name was Butch. Another time a neighbor was kind enough to find her a new furry friend, a cute Shih Tzu she named Ginger. These were just a few of her many dog friends. Tammy loved them all. Her final loving dog was another Shih Tzu named Happy who she also called Ginger.
For not having a lot of education, Tammy had a native intelligence that took her far. She was always scrupulously honest and free with her love. Being alone so much also taught her to be tough. We loved her cute sense of humor and she could come up with quite the clever remarks!
We are all thrilled that Tammy is now freed from earthly cares and surrounded by family and dear friends in her new life in Heaven. We are grateful for the blessing of knowing such a choice soul. We all love you, Tammy!
