On Sunday, August 15, 2021, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Takaaki “Tony” Shiraki passed away at his home in Salt Lake City, UT. Takaaki was born in 1943 to Yoshio Shiraki and Matsuko Nakano in Kobe, Japan. In 1967, he boarded a ship and came to the United States to pursue the American dream. He married Eva Becerril of Veracruz, Mexico on June 21, 1972. Together they raised 2 children, Yoshi and Jackie.
Professionally trained in Japan, Takaaki had a passion and talent for hairdressing. He got his first job at ZCMI Department Store in Salt Lake City. His work ethic and skill enabled him to open 3 successful salons in his lifetime, most notably, Kami Hair in Holladay Utah, which was in business for more than 30 years. Takaaki loved art, traveling, reading, and spending time with his 5 grandchildren, Delanie (18), Kelsey (15), Blake (13), London (6), and Ella (3).
Takaaki was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Eva, 2 children and their spouses, Yoshi and Yanilda Shiraki and Bradley and Jackie Finnigan.
There will be a celebration of life open house held on August 21, 2021, from 12-3 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 7035 Nutree Drive, Cottonwood Heights, UT. He will be missed more than words can say.
