Ron was born April 12, 1936 in Rupert, Idaho to Donald William and Ursula Snapp Gibson.
Graduated from Granite High School in 1954. Ron joined the Army and was chosen to be an Honor Guard, serving from December 1960 – January 1961 at Arlington Cemetery. He started his career as a court clerk in 1966 under Chief Justice Frank Wilkins, who quickly accelerated him to Deputy Court Administrator working alongside Chief Justice Gordon Hall and Bill Vickery, then to State Court Administrator, retiring as Appellate Court Administrator in 1996.
Ron met the love of his life, Sophie, in 1961 and were married five years later in 1966; celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary on July 24th. They met while working together at The Paris Company. They enjoyed having season tickets to the men’s U of U basketball games, traveling together and spending time with their families. Ron enjoyed golfing and spending time with his siblings, especially his twin brother, Don.
Ron is survived by his wife Sophie, daughter Kari Roberts, son Mark Gibson and Kari’s twin boys, Jacob and Nicholas. Also survived by his twin brother’s wife, Donna Gibson.
Preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ursula Gibson, siblings, Wanda (Jack) Jarvie, Carma (Bud) Brown, twin brother Don Gibson and brother Oral Snapp.
Services will be, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 Highland Drive. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
Special thanks to those at the Veterans Memorial Hospital who assisted with Ron’s medical care, as well as Enhabit Hospice (Mandy and Sarah) who showed loving compassion to both Ron and Sophie.
