1927 - 2018
Robert James Martin passed away July 9, 2018, from complications of Multiple Myeloma with his family
at his side. He was born in Ogden, Utah September 6, 1927 the son of Dominic Roger Martin and Olive Draycott Martin.
Bob grew up Superior, Wyoming. He graduated from the University of Wyoming after serving in the United States military in Japan. Bob returned to Wyoming and married Evelyn Louse Stucker in Rock Springs, Wyoming their marriage was later sealed in the Logan Temple. They were married for 29 years. Evelyn proceeded him in death.
Bob began his career with Husky Oil in Cody Wyoming. Later transferring to Salt Lake City. In 1971 he began his independent career in the oil industry.
In 1979 Bob married Miriam Elaine Davis, from 1981-1984 they served together and presided over the Hawaii, Honolulu Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bob was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in many callings throughout his life including Stake President, and as a Sealer in the Salt Lake Temple.
His loving wife and 3 daughters and 2 sons survive. Jan Thornton (Rick) Cour de Alene Idaho, Nancy Hadlow (Jon) Kaysville Utah, Pat Ensign (Doug) Dallas Texas, Bob Martin (Lori) Millcreek Utah. Mike Burke (Wendy) Saint George Utah. He is also survived by 9 grand children and 27 great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his sister Jackie Smith (Las Vegas Nevada) and a brother that he often called the “Best Brother in the World” Bill Martin.
Funeral Services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary and Chapel 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek Utah on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:00am. Internment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
