Karla Anni Luise Radack Siebach

Karla Anni Luise Radack Siebach passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. She was born in Kiel, Germany on March 10, 1930, to Martha Berg Radack and Karl Ludwig Radack; the middle of five children. She witnessed World War II through her child’s eyes, growing up in war-torn Germany, often separated from her loved ones. As a young girl and throughout her life, she was very well liked because she was so gemütlich (warm and friendly).

She married Henry Rudolph Siebach, a former missionary who served in her hometown, on September 1, 1949. In 1950, with tremendous courage and faith, she became the first in her family to immigrate to the U.S. She quickly taught herself to speak English with the help of her husband, and by reading books and watching television. In 1957 she became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Karla was a devoted mother to eight children, the oldest being a special needs child. She raised them mostly in Pennsylvania where the family resided for 50 years. She sacrificed much to teach them to walk uprightly, to display good manners, and to be kind to one another with compassion for all. She was pleased she kept her children well dressed and fed on a limited budget, always finding the best value for the dollar. Her passion for quality chocolate was not lost on her kids. The fruits of her hands were prolific and never ending, always making time to create beautiful things for her home and family. She especially found joy in knitting and crocheting. She took great pleasure in giving to others. Frequent day trips refreshed her soul.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With her German heritage and many handiwork talents, she was a sought after contributor to church activities. Her simple faith and down to earth, positive outlook on life carried her and her family on the high road through life’s challenges. Her children and family honor her, and are happy to think of her amazing reunion with family on the other side.

Karla was preceded in death by her parents, three of her siblings, her husband, Henry, and her daughter, Barbara. She is survived by one sister, Marlies, and also by her remaining children, Susanne (Wayne), Marlin (Brenda), Steven (Terry), Ronald (Holly), Peter (Linda), Heidi (Brian) and Karen (Brent). She has 31 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren with two more on the way.

Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the Alpine Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 98 E Canyon Crest Road, Alpine, Utah 84004. The funeral services will be at the same location beginning at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. on April 1, 2017, at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 West Neversink Road, Reading, Pennsylvania 19606.
