Karen, age 79, passed away Wednesday December 23, 2021 at home, of complications due to dementia. She was born on June 25, 1942 to LeRoi, (Dutch) Hess and Sadie Zina Jepperson Hess. She was the eldest of two children. Karen was born in Brigham City Utah and lived there until the age of 13, then moved with her mother and brother to Salt Lake City due to the death of her father. She graduated from East High School, and later trained as an accountant. She was an accounts payable manager for several firms in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. Later became General Manager and part owner of a small electronic business, who manufactured computerize fluid control monitors for inventory control for oil and lube stations. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, and her Brother Richard, and her step father Elliott Merrell. She is survived by her Husband, Eugene, Four Children, David, (Cindy), Todd, Scott, (Susan), Melinda Michelsen, (Douglas), one step brother, Bruce Merrell, (Lynn), and two step sisters, Carolyn Summerhays, (Bruce), and Marcia Eyer, (Don). Eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Karen is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served various callings, she also served 5 years in the Jordan River Temple. Karen’s wishes for her service is graveside. At 1:30PM on Thursday Dec 30th there will be a 1 hour viewing at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary 3401 Highland Drive prior to her service. Following the viewing the graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday Dec 30th in the Sandy City Cemetery on 700 East 9000 South.
