January 15, 1960 – August 30, 2012
Our beloved Julie passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2012, at her home in New Bern, North Carolina. Julie was born to George L. (Roy) Baker and Martha Trujillo Baker. She grew up in Tooele, Utah, where she graduated from Tooele high school in 1978. Julie was an active member of the Catholic Church. She began riding horses and competing in various Rodeo’s and Barrel racing as well as Show horse Competition’s, including Western Pleasures Competitions and came in as runner up in the Princess competition at age 13. She Married David Garcia (later divorced) and had one son, Eric. She started her career at age 25 in civil service at Tooele Army Depot and later moved to Texas and eventually to North Carolina where for the last 6 years of her 27 year career she worked at Cherry Point in New Bern, North Carolina as a Production Controller and took her position very serious and was very good at what she did, often going the extra mile to help anyone who needed her help. She was respected and admired by everyone. Simply put she was a kind, thoughtful, funny, caring professional and a great friend who cared deeply for those around her. She was not just a co-worker, she was part of the family. Julie was known as quite a prankster and enjoyed pulling pranks on her co-workers just to get a good laugh but found herself on the receiving end of pranks and was surprised that she could fall for them. She will be sorely missed by all of her co-workers and friends in North Carolina. Julie loved coming back to Utah to spend time with her Dad who was also her best friend.
A quote from her Uncle Renny who passed away a few years ago, “Do your best and don’t look back”
She was survived by her Father, Mother, Son and two Granddaughters.
Services will be held Saturday September 8, 2012 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial 3401 S. Highland Dr., where family and friends can call at 1:00 PM to pay respects with the funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM.
