Born in Ruleville, Mississippi to Malvey R. and Katie Lou Weed Lloyd, Jesse married Glenna Goodliffe on April 18, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Swiss temple. They made their home in Salt Lake City after travelling the world as an Air Force family.
Jesse graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and earned an MBA from the University of Oklahoma. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, earned his pilot wings and later flew during the Korean War. He completed 26 years in the U.S. Air Force as both a pilot and in the Air Force Audit Agency, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Jesse then joined Utah Power and Light Corporation as the Director of Internal Audit retiring 15 years later.
He served in many capacities in the LDS church including as a missionary in Sydney, Australia with his wife, Glenna. Jesse’s interests included motor homing, fishing, woodworking and avidly following Ute basketball and football.
Jesse is survived by his wife Glenna; brother James (aka Sam); children Glen (Robin), Linda (David), Connee, and Nancy (Bill); seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William, and one great granddaughter.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, or at the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South on Monday at 10am. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Stake Center. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
