Gregory Allen Cates passed away Friday September 6th of natural causes at the age of 72 to be with his wife Kristy, his Mother and Father DeLone and Robert, and his little brother Tony. In his younger years Greg moved with his family following his Father’s military career. He graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City Utah after his family had settled in Utah. His early adult life brought him through a few careers including working for the park service at a local campsite where he found a love for nature and the outdoors. This led him to his lifelong career as a Land Surveyor. He continued to work outdoors for most of his life. In the later years of his career, he moved to the office but never missed the opportunity working in the field whenever possible.
Greg was fortunate to share his life with two amazing women. Through his sister, he met Beth, his first wife and had two children Danielle and Geoffrey. Greg would later bond with a coworker as they had both been through a divorce. This later turned to love and Greg married Kristy bringing three more sons into his life. Greg and Kristy would spend the rest of their life together going on adventures, traveling, home renovation and enjoying their life together with their growing family, which included eleven grandchildren at the time of his passing.
Due to his love of nature, Greg was always happy experiencing the beauty and grandeur of America’s natural parks. Taking the road less traveled and enjoying the peaceful experience of being a part of nature. He would combine his love of nature with his love of automobiles and motorcycles by driving to his vacation destinations. He and Kristy would go on several trips riding on his Harley enjoying the open road and the good friends that rode with them.
A celebration of his life will be held at Wasatch Lawn mausoleum on Monday September 16th at 11am.
