June 10, 1927 – July 9, 2011
O Gordon Lyman, beloved husband and father, slipped peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on July 9, 2011, while surrounded by his family and friends. Gordon was born in Tridell, Utah on June 10, 1927, to Oscar Mason Lyman and Anna Katrina Bartlett. He was the third of eight children. Gordon lived the small town life until his family moved to Salt Lake City in 1941, where he attended and graduated from West High School. He served honorably in the Korean War and faithfully as an L.D.S. missionary in South Africa. Following his mission, Gordon returned to Salt Lake where he met his eternal companion and sweetheart, Caralyn Hanson. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 28, 1957, and were later blessed with six wonderful children. Gordon loved his Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He loved and honored his family, his country and his work. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsman, and many were blessed through his talents and service in these trades. He was happiest when serving other people. Gordon was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in numerous Church callings. He especially loved his home teaching families and working in the temple. Words cannot begin to describe who Gordon was and all of the good he accomplished in his life, so his family must be content with this brief but heartfelt farewell, “Sweetheart, Dad, Pampa, we love you so much! We will see you ‘round the bend by and by.”
Gordon was preceded in death by his brother, Ford Lyman. He is survived by his wife, Caralyn and his children, David, Susan Grant (Bruce), Michelle DePrizio (Ray), Shaun (Natalie), Christian (Sonara), Aaron (Heather), and his beloved grandchildren, and great granddaughter.
