Evelyn Irene Plant (McCandlish), 98, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. She was born on March 2, 1926, in Bremen, Ohio. Evelyn was known for her kind, generous, and caring nature. Evelyn is survived by her son, Jeffrey Plant, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Plant. She will also be lovingly remembered by her granddaughter, Nicole Plant, and her granddaughter, Natalie (Plant) Smith. Additionally, Evelyn leaves behind her great-grandsons, Justus and Evan. She is also survived by her nieces, Vivian Hendrickson and Betty Leslie. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, John William McCandlish, and her mother, Alta Faye McCandlish. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Eugene Plant, and her siblings, Wilda McCandlish, Charles (Chuck) McCandlish, Carl Merle McCandlish, Emerson Eugene McCandlish, and Wreath (Rita) Lively.
Evelyn had a fulfilling career throughout her life. She worked as a bank teller in Pemberville, Ohio, and later as a receptionist and office manager for Dr. Zann in Sylvania, Ohio, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, working in the yard, and spoiling her son's dogs. She found joy in these simple pleasures.
She will be buried at Grandview Cemetery in Bremen, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or the Humane Society of Utah. These organizations were close to Evelyn's heart and she would appreciate any support in her memory.
Evelyn Irene Plant will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her kind spirit and caring nature will always be remembered. One of the last things she said was, “I’ve lived a full life, it’s time to go see my son, Greg, who was taken from me way to early.” She will be happy!
