Donald Wilson Tarr, age 90, of Sandy, Utah passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was born on July 3, 1934, in South Gate, California to Harry LeRoy Tarr and Janet Wilson. Don attended California State College where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.
Don served a mission in Holland with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became fluent in Dutch. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Paris, France. This is where he met our sweet mother, Genevieve Christensen, and where they had their first date under the Eiffel Tower. Don married the love of his life, Genevieve Christensen on August 26, 1960, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
He loved sports and appreciated music. He was a kind, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Don worked as a home builder for several years, then retired from the U.S. post office after 25 years. He is loved by all and he will be dearly missed.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Genevieve Christensen; children, Becki (Creston) Black, Jill (Dean) Sharp, Robynn (Gary) Goodwin, Mark (Lani) Tarr, Ryan (Stefanie) Tarr, Brent (Cindy) Tarr, and Miriam (Leighton) Swank; sister, Carol; 39 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry LeRoy Tarr and Janet Wilson; sister, Janet Rouse; and brothers, Harry Tarr and Kenneth Tarr.
An evening viewing for Donald will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Jordan 4th Ward, 235 E. 9800 S. (Sego Lily Dr.), Sandy, UT 84070. A morning viewing will occur Monday, October 7, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM, 235 E. 9800 S. (Sego Lily Dr.), Sandy, UT 84070. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:30 AM, 235 E. 9800 S. (Sego Lily Dr.), Sandy, UT 84070. An interment will occur at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah 84106.
