Brett Benjamin Thornton Stevens

He was born on July 5th 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harold T. and June Lloyd Stevens. He was the youngest of five children.

Ben was raised in a loving home in Holladay, Utah that nurtured his love for animals and outdoor activities. His love for dogs and horses started at a young age, as he learned to work hard caring for them. He went to school at Cottonwood Elementary, Olympus Jr. High, and graduated Olympus High School class of 1975. He enjoyed spending time with his father throughout his teenage years assisting with construction projects, but their true love was riding motorcycles and driving cars together. They were an inseparable team that led Ben to take many classes in construction to further his education. Ben continued to learn from his father as they worked together on many construction sites including residential and large commercial properties. He also developed a talent for remodeling older homes. While he became skilled at plumbing and electrical work, he truly excelled at Welding. He earned a professional welding license and spent many years working with the Pipe Fitters Union 140 in Salt Lake City Utah.

Ben married Mary Stewart and they had two children Brett and Jessica Stevens. They were the greatest joy of his life and he loved creating many wonderful memories with them. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Ben thought the best days involved being outside exploring and finding new adventures. You could often find him enjoying every moment with the biggest smile when he was camping, riding motorcycles or biking, being with loved ones, playing with his dogs and boating on Lake Powell or Jackson Lake. Ben was a self taught master mechanic who enjoyed rebuilding engines and he had an innate ability to know exactly how far an engine could be pushed to the limit. He enjoyed many motorcycle trips with his son Brett and nephew Travis Stevens. He also especially loved his dear friends Mary Lamb, Todd and Brad Carlson.

Unfortunately, Ben battled difficult health problems for many years, but he loved the kindness and care he received from the Holliday 27th Ward and his doctors.

Ben will be remembered and loved as a religious, kind hearted, humble and loving Father, Son, Brother, and Friend. He will be greatly missed, and his family and friends are grateful for sharing many adventures with him.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents June Lloyd Stevens, and Harold T. Stevens, his sister Cary Caroline Stevens Jones, sister-in-law Peggy Hocking Stevens and her son Sean Stevens.

He is survived by his children, son Brett & Amy, and granddaughter Elizabeth, daughter Jessica Stevens Boss and Grandsons Nathan, Ashton, Andrew, Alex, Adam and Adonis, Sister Sean& Michael Press , Brother Mark Lloyd Stevens, nephew Chris Stevens and his two daughters , nephew Travis Stevens & Debbie, and niece Brittney Stevens &Lee Fisher and their two children, sister Lacey Anne &Curt Ence, and their Children, Jenessa & Franz Ottenberger and 4 four children, Tyson Ence, Anjuli & Joel Theler with their three children and Justin & Amelia Ence with their two children, and nephews Benjamin & Erica Jones with their one child, and Peter & Courtney Jones and their two children, and Ben’s beloved dog Boo.

Celebration of Life is on Friday Evening November 3rd 2023
