Anita Wardell Watts age 57, passed away January 29th 2021 in Dublin California. She is survived by her husband Jason Edward Watts, sons Tyler Evan Murphy & Matthew Steven Murphy (Ashley Murphy), Daughters Kaytlyn Patrice Murphy & Kayleigh Marie Wood, Brothers Shane Wardell (Cindy), Chris Wardell (Wendy), Daniel Wardell (Shannon), Grandsons Leo & Connor, Grandmother Ludean McGrath, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends that were all considered family.
Anita was preceded in death by her grandfather George McGrath, mother Julia Wardell, father Weldon Wardell, and sister Jessica Adamson.
Anita was born May 9, 1963, in San Diego CA to Weldon and Julia Wardell. She was third of five siblings and the first daughter. Anita grew up a Navy brat, moving all over the country, and enjoying the opportunities to meet new people, and enjoyed many cultures. Her best friends growing up were always her brothers Shane, Chris, & Danny and her sister Jessica. After her fathers retirement in 1976 the family settled back in Salt Lake City Utah where Anita attended Evergreen Junior High and later graduated from Olympus High in 1981.
Anita married Mark S Murphy on February 5, 1983. During her marriage they were blessed with 3 children, Matthew (35), Tyler(30) and Kaytlyn (22). While Anita and Mark seperated in 2003 they remained close throughout the remainder of her life sharing joy in their children and grandchildren.
One of Anita’s greatest joys are her grandchildren. While they only had what seems like moments, the memory of Nani/Grandma Nita lives on in the family that tells the story of her selflessness, dedication to family, and her passion for life.
On July 23, 2005 Anita married the love of her life, Jason Edward Watts. Anita welcomed Jason and his daughter Kayleigh into her arms, and their family grew from 4 to 6. Jason knew Anita’s family was large, but didn’t know their love for him was even greater. Anita loved Jason with her entire heart, as did her children. Sometimes there were disagreements, but most were quickly settled with Anita shouting “JASON EDWARD!”, and Jason replying “yes my dear”.
Anita worked in the Hotel business starting as a banquet server and working her way through the ranks until achieving the position of Director of Catering and serving in that capacity for at least 15 years at various properties around the Bay Area. Anita made a mark on everyone she met with her attention to detail, empathy, compassion, professionalism and just all around kindness, whether is was her co-workers or corporate customers or brides planning their special day.
Anita carried that to her second career as a receptionist at a doctors office where she was prized by both the staff and the patients. Many patients quietly suffered, but with Anita’s welcoming smile and warm spirit most anxieties were melted away.
Anita was so well respected and universally loved in the Tri-valley Area that she couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone she knew that wanted to stop her and say hi and catch up. Buying groceries was never a in/out experience as Anita seemed to know everyone. Anita became the 2nd mom to every child that spent any time in her home. On many occasions whipping up favorites such as, chicken cordon-bleu, bow tie pasta, meatballs(with mushroom), chicken enchiladas, sautéed mushrooms, tacos, tater-tot casserole and many more.
Anita loved her music, especially Bon Jovi, the only sound she loved more was the sound of waves crashing on the beach. When you’re thinking of Anita, and want to feel her grace, visit her favorite beach, Pomponio State Beach on the coast of California.
Anita was very much loved by all who met her. She will be forever missed, and certainly never forgotten.
