Christine Perkins

Christine “Cricket” Perkins (Welchel) was born on March 22nd, 1943. She was always by her accounts born small enough to fit into a shoe box to Iva Isabella and Chattie Houston Welchel in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was a licensed beautician who could often be found in her kitchen giving a perm, watching her favorite crime television show, or drinking a coke with her adored dog Lindy in her lap. She was guaranteed to always be cold even in the desert, loved to travel and bowl in her younger years, and was the family rock. She was preceded in death by her mother Iva, father Chattie, sister Nadine, brother Jurl and beloved husband of 47 years Jerry Ray Perkins. Christine had 4 children, son Jimmy Perkins and wife Sally of Norman Oklahoma, daughter Terrie Barks and husband Melvin of Elgin Oklahoma, son Houston Perkins and wife Cherry of Shawnee Oklahoma, and daughter Renee Perkins of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her family included 3 brothers, 1 sister, 14 grand-children, 18 great grand- children, numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Paylor Family Funeral Family Care, 412 N. Air Depot Blvd., Midwest City, Oklahoma with burial to follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma.
