SMITH, Kathleen M. “Kathy”, 53, of Palymra, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at UVA Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1958 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her uncles, Michael “Mickey” Garetano and Vincent “Vinnie” Garetano; and her grandmother, Margaret Garetano. Survivors include her husband, Oscar William “Bill” Smith; five sons, William D. “Winky” Smith and his wife, Eunji of Springfield, Mark Wayne Smith of Falls Church, Dean Christopher Smith of Annandale, Michael J. Smith and his wife Diana of Chesterfield, and Vincent C. Smith and his wife Reed of Middlesex; grandchildren, Cara Smith and Alex Smith; her mother, Maria Garetano; and pets, Zoe, Chloe, Misty, Fern, and Patches. Her remains rest at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday.
