Jeffrey Allan Zimmerman

ZIMMERMAN, Jeffrey Allan, beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, friend and basketball coach, slipped into the arms of our Lord November 30, 2016, at the age of 47. He was a brave warrior and an inspiration to all. Jeff was an excellent Class A contractor and owned Cozy Home Construction Company. His multiple talents and knowledge were endless. His greatest passion was his family and friends. Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Melinda Zimmerman; his precious daughters, Brittany Snellings, Bethany Zimmerman and Brieanna Zimmerman; his parents, James Zimmerman and Janet Zimmerman; his maternal grandfather, Robert Sprouse Sr.; mother-in-law, Susan McCray; a brother, James "Jimmy" Zimmerman; a sister, Jillayne Merritt; his granddaughters, Caylee Snellings and Aubrey Snellings; and a new grandson, born December 2, 2016, Brantley Snellings;, his son-in-law, Ralph (Trey) Snellings; and son-in-law-to-be, Curtis Shepherd; brothers-in-law, Brian Merritt, Bruce McCray, Mark McCray, Johne McCray and Erin McCray; sisters-in-law, Margaret McCray and Julia Cox; his niece, Makayla Merritt; his nephews, Austin Merritt and Carter Merritt. Also left behind to treasure his memories are nine uncles and seven aunts. His heart had a special place for his mom's cousin, Judy, who he has called "Aunt Judy" since he was a toddler; his aunt Debi, who had battled cancer and was his "buddy;" and his uncle Ronnie, who he loved like a father. He is also survived by five great-aunts, three great-uncles, 18 first cousins and numerous second cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Sprouse; his paternal grandparents, Katie and Larry Zimmerman; and his cousin, Philip Lively. The family will receive guests Monday, December 5, 2016, between 6 and 8 p.m., at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23113. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Saint John's Neumann Catholic Church, 2480 Batterson Rd., Powhatan, Va. 23139. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238. The family will receive guests at Saint John's Neumann Catholic Church following the graveside service.
