Connor James Smith, born on March 28, 2010, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2022 after a battle with respiratory illness at 12 ¾ years old. Connor was surrounded in love from his family, friends, and beloved medical staff at Chippenham Hospital. The superhero that Connorman always was, he fought to his last breath with grit and perseverance.
Connor is survived by his loving parents, Shawn and Krista Smith, who will carry on his legacy for epilepsy advocacy and spreading joy.
Survived by great-grandparents, Doris Moore, and Donald & Joyce Hardison; grandparents, Stanley & Kathy Smith, Donald Hardison Jr., and Alice & Thomas Moore; uncles & aunts, Corey & Janette Hardison, Edgar & Erin Jones, and Ryan & Sharon Smith.
Connor will be missed by his wonderful cousins Harrison (20), Jack (16), Graham (13), Ella (12), Landon (9), Lily (8), Bennett (7), Darby (5), and Davis (10 mos.)
Connor is survived by his wonderful caregivers, Kelsi Olsen and Sandy Jones.
Connor left to be with Jesus leaving an immeasurable footprint in the earthly world having raised over $15K in epilepsy research for Epilepsy Foundation, EFVA, and The Cute Syndrome Foundation. Connor loved traveling whether to a local park to stroll around or to grander places like the Grand Canyon, Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, Baltimore Aquarium, Washington DC, Disney World (Make-A-Wish trip), and Wrigley Field to see his and Daddy’s beloved Chicago Cubs play ball. Although non-verbal, Connor’s face, eyebrows and smile spoke volumes. He could express all his feelings through his eyes and light up a room with his beautiful, squinty smile. Connor’s immense joy for simple things like Santa, Christmas decorations, light up inflatables, and balloons was apparent to all that knew him. He embodied music whether listening to the Bethel Baptist Church Choir or doing musicology with Daddy inclusive of jazz, jam bands, and 80s rock. Lastly, Connor loved strolling with his Mommy while she took him on walks or runs with him in his wheelchair. He loved the feeling of moving fast with the wind in his face.
Connor will forever be stamped in our hearts, and we ask that you all look up to Heaven and talk to him.
Shawn & Krista request family, friends, and co-workers to attend Connor’s memorial service to honor a life well lived and loved by the sweetest boy who now resides as God’s angel. Please plan your attire to be light and airy, bow ties, blues, and superhero attire.
