HARPER, Barbara Gene Booth, The only child of Mason H. and Edna Cockrell Booth of Glebe Point, Burgess, Virginia, she was born in Richmond on May 10, 1932 and died October 18, 2014 at her home with her family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years James (Jim), children James Mason and his wife Cindy, John Michael, Melanie McGinnis, grandchildren Katie and Jack, and her devoted cousin Virginia Grabbe.
She attended Averett College and Richmond Professional Institute. She was a loving, kind, devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed decorating her home, collecting antiques, playing bridge and cooking. She loved spending time at her Great Wicomico River homeplace where she was raised and eating steamed crabs on the porch with her loved ones. Her kind nature, gentleness, and quick wit touched all. She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.
The family will receive friends at the Huguenot Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., between 4 and 6 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014.
Barbara was a member of Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian where a celebration of her life will be held October 24, 2014 at 11 am with a reception following at Salisbury Country Club. She will be interred at a later date at Wicomico United Methodist Church in Wicomico Church, Virginia.
