Thelma was born February 18, 1925 near Purcell, Oklahoma to Dolph and Ella Huffman. She was one of 10 children. When she was three years old, the family moved to Texas and settled on a farm in Yoakum County, Turner community, northeast of Plains, Texas.
Thelma spent her early years in Yoakum, Terry, and Gains Counties and graduated from Seagraves High School in 1944. She attended Draughan Business College in Lubbock, Texas. Thelma worked many years for the General Telephone Company of the Southwest starting at Seagraves and later at Littlefield, Brownfield, and Hobbs, New Mexico.
Thelma married Roy L. (Moose) Tabb in 1971. They lived in Jal, New Mexico and Monahans, Texas and then moved to Midland, Texas in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dolph and Ella Hoffman, one brother, and seven sisters.
Thelma leaves behind her husband, Roy Tabb; son, Steve and wife, Susan Tabb; granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Rebecca of California; daughter, Susan and husband, David Sayari of Lubbock, Texas; grandson, Eric Bartlett and wife, Amy; and great-grandson Dylan of Plano, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Sayari of Dallas, Texas; great-granddaughter, Kaylee; great-grandsons Kaleb and Kadin of Gatesville, Texas; and granddaughter, Amy Bartlett of Bakersfield, California.
Thelma is also survived by one brother, J. D. and wife, Valdene Huffman of Sherman, Texas; brother-in-law, George E. Hatley of Eunice, New Mexico; a great number of nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, and several dear friends.
Thelma was a member of Westside Church of Christ at the time of her death.
A funeral service is planned for 3:00pm at Westside Church of Christ on Thursday, January 12, 2012 with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Midland, Texas. Condolences may be place at: www.ellisfunerals.com.
